Today, Monday 3 July 2023, we launch our Summer of IP outreach campaign!

We’re really keen to inform as wide a range of potential recruits as possible about these opportunities. Please help us spread the word through your own networks, both professional and personal. Remember we’re covering lots of different careers: patent and trade mark attorneys, paralegals, IP support professionals, IP solicitors and barristers, IP Office roles…

The campaign includes events to raise awareness about IP generally and the careers available here, along with activities such as open days, talks, mentoring sessions and even work experience opportunities. All of these are open to anyone who’s interested in learning more about a career in IP. For many of them, priority will be given to candidates from groups that are currently under-represented in IP. We’ve been promoting them to schools, universities, IP sector recruiters and relevant social mobility and outreach charities.

The Careers in Ideas introductory events include four initial pre-recorded events that went live on our website today and nine further events throughout July. There are registration links for all the live events on this page, along with links to the recordings afterwards. There’s also a useful summary available to download here. All the events and recordings are free.

IP sector employers will be hosting various activities and events throughout July, August and September, both online and in-person around the UK. These range from taster days and open days/evenings to a week of work experience and a mock trade mark opposition hearing. The full list of activities on offer can be found here and we’ll be adding more as they’re confirmed. We recommend applying early as spaces are limited for some activities.

Thank you to our Careers in Ideas team of volunteers and to the IP sector employers who have contributed to Summer of IP so far.
