“Conferences can be valuable and rewarding, both educationally and in terms of networking. But whether you are presenting or attending, being prepared for everything an event brings is vital for your wellbeing.”

Following our recent guest blog about conference burnout, our good friends at Jonathan’s Voice have shared with us a post from their own blog page on a similar subject.

They write:

Off to a conference? You may find this article, first published in the INTA 2026 Special CITMA Review, very helpful. It was written byΒ Nicola Neath,Β an independent psychotherapist and a workplace counsellor.

INTA is a substantial event held in London in May that offers hundreds of sessions, meetings and social opportunities. Nicola has given some excellent advice from a well-being and mental health perspective about how to pace oneself in such a setting. She notes that making good choices and managing stimulation are key conference capabilities. This excellent, accessible and practical advice is relevant to any conference or large gathering and a fascinating read, whether you are part of the intellectual property community or work in a different context.

The key point, as Nicola concludes, is that “looking after yourself compassionately will maximise your chances of having a valuable experience”.

You can read the full article here, and the original post about it on the Jonathan’s Voice site here.

Further useful material from Nicola, written for the CITMA website, is available here.
