Mental health

A joint IP Inclusive & Jonathan’s Voice event

Tuesday 14 November 2023
5 – 6 pm + networking

Attendees joined IP Inclusive and Jonathan’s Voice for a discussion about how best to champion men’s wellbeing and mental health. What better theme to tackle in the run-up to International Men’s DayΒ on 19 November?

We were lucky to be joined for the evening by Nick Bloy – mental health and wellbeing advocate, coach, and founder ofΒ WELLBEINGRepublic. Nick authored the ground-breaking 2022 LawCare report on “Men’s mental health in the legal profession”, and he kindly offered to share his insights into the work behind that initiative, as well as what individuals and organisations in the sector can do to support men’s wellbeing.

The event was generously hosted by Mathys & Squire at their London office atΒ The Shard,Β 32 London Bridge Street,Β LondonΒ SE1 9SG.

You can read a report of the key outcomes on the Jonathan’s Voice blog page. The event was also reported in the December 2023 CIPA Journal: see our post about that.

Programme

  • Registration from 4.30 pm
  • Nick’s presentation, Q&A and discussion from 5 – 6 pm
  • Networking until 6.30 pm – attendees joined us for refreshments and a chance to chat with fellow IP professionals about the issues raised in the discussions

Who was it for?

This event was open to all UK-based IP professionals, regardless of role, career level or gender. And we encouraged people to invite a guest to join them – someone in a different role or at a different career level, perhaps; an ally or potential ally; or a colleague who’s not yet involved with IP Inclusive. They were most welcome!

Cost

This event was free. So are all our resources. The Jonathan’s Voice events and resources are also free at the point of delivery.

That said, both organisations do need money to keep the show on the road, so if you enjoyed the event please consider contributing. For more information, visit the IP Inclusive fundraising page or the Jonathan’s Voice donations page.
