Fireside chat with Helen Jones
and “back to school” social
Tuesday 10 September 2024
6.00 – 9.00 pm in person and 6.30 – 7.30 pm online
Attendees joined colleagues and friends from IP Out for an evening exploring how life for LGBTQ+ people in the profession has changed over recent decades. There were entertaining anecdotes, but also reflections and tools to help us in our day-to-day lives and to help us be allies to other groups. After our fireside chat, there were drinks and canapes and a chance to catch up with contacts old and new as we head into autumn.
The event was hybrid, but we welcomed as many in-person attendees as possible to maximise the opportunities to connect.
Meet the speaker
Helen Jones started in the profession in 1982 and was a highly respected partner at Gill Jennings & Every for 26 years. She was a trailblazer as a woman and a lesbian in a very different working environment than we enjoy now. Interviewed by Isobel Barry, co-chair of IP Out and partner at Carpmaels & Ransford, Helen shared her experiences and discussed both the support she received and the challenges she encountered along the way. You can read an interview with her on the GJE website here, but there were more insights and Q&A on the night with IP Out!
