IP Ability
online discussion to mark
International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Thursday 3 December 2020
Midday
IP Ability invited all IP Inclusive supporters to join them for a relaxed review of their first year at midday on Thursday 3 December 2020, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
They encouraged anyone working in IP to attend, including disabled IP professionals, IP professionals with caring responsibilities for disabled people, and allies.
The event began with a short introductory presentation summarising IP Ability’s first year. We heard about their recent survey on the accessibility of the patent qualifying exams; the resources they’ve published; their 2020 webinars; and their work with the other IP Inclusive communities.Â
We then split into smaller groups to review what IP Ability have done and to suggest things they should try to do in the next 12 months and beyond. The outcomes from these small group discussions should help IP Ability to support those already working within the IP professions; encourage and assist in making the IP professions more accessible, inclusive and welcoming; and raise awareness and understanding of all impairments and the impact of caring responsibilities.
If you have any accessibility requirements, please let us know when you register for an IP Inclusive event (or email [email protected]), and we’ll do our best to make sure you can join us and get the most out of the event.
