What I’d tell my younger self
with Dr Fiona O’Donoghue
Tuesday 11 February 2025
12.00 – 1.00 pm, online
Many of our health indicators are influenced by genetics but most of them aren’t! Genetic factors account for between 5% and 10% of our health outcomes. This means that we have some control over the other factors and this is a powerful thing! Going into perimenopause changes our body and our metabolism and has an influence on symptoms and disease processes.
Our speaker, GP and menopause specialist Dr Fiona O’Donoghue, spoke about perimenopause symptoms and long term health outcomes relevant to hormonal changes. She talked about what you can expect to happen and how you can best prepare yourself beforehand. This doesn’t mean that you can’t put these tools into action in the perimenopause and menopause also. She also covered symptoms such as weight management, sleep and anxiety, osteoporosis and cardiovascular health among other topics. There was plenty of time for questions and we identified other topics attendees wanted to delve deeper into.

Who was it for?
Our IPause webinars are for everyone who works in the UK’s IP sector. All genders and all ages are welcome, as are people from all roles and career levels. You might be going through (peri)menopause yourself, or already have done so, or just want to know more for the future. You might be joining us to find out how you can support family, friends and colleagues who are going through (peri)menopause.
Feel free to invite a friend or colleague to come along to one of our events with you – someone in a different role or at a different career level, perhaps, or a colleague who’s not yet involved with IP Inclusive. They’ll be most welcome!
