Jonathan's Voice, Mental health, Wellbeing

For Mental Health Awareness Week

Thursday 15 May 2025

12.30 – 1.30 pm, online

This session is offered in connection with Mental Health Awareness Week. The theme this year is community. Good social connections and community are thought to be vital for mental health and wellbeing.

Here we start from the quality of our connection and relationship with ourselves. Mindfulness is all about connection. What we attend to and how we attend to it determines what we experience.

Sally will guide us through a series of simple mindfulness meditation practices bringing us into contact with the nature of human attention and our habits of mind. In doing so we come up close to key aspects of the human condition, which we all share. All too often how our minds worry and become fixed on problems. This can lead to feeling isolated and disconnected from those around. We can judge ourselves harshly when we struggle with and suffer from with the stresses and strains of human life.  Mindfulness can enable us to cultivate a kindly and more compassionate connection with our own experiences and our habits of mind. In turn this can deepen our connection with others with whom we share our common humanity.

No prior experience necessary. Just bring yourself and your distractible and self-evaluating mind.

Meet the Speaker

Sally Rose is a psychotherapist who specialises in workplace mental health and applying psychological theories and mindfulness to working adults. She is particularly interested in the power of using mindfulness practices to regulate attention. Actively working with our attention and minds can open up choices for how we respond to automatic reactions and stress. This can free up attention and mental resources in order to both work well and look after ourselves at work.

Who is it for?

This event is for all UK-based IP professionals who are interested in mental wellbeing. We don’t mind where you work, what role you play there or what career level you’re at. This is an important topic, which touches many and matters to all of us.

Bring a guest!

At IP Inclusive we want to reach as many IP people as possible. Why not invite a guest to watch one of our webinars with you – someone in a different role or at a different career level, perhaps; an ally or potential ally; or a colleague who’s not yet involved with IP Inclusive? They’ll be most welcome!

This event is free. So are all our resources. The Jonathan’s Voice events and resources are also free at the point of delivery.

That said, both organisations do need money to keep the show on the road, so if you enjoy the event please consider contributing via our Just Giving page or choosing a voluntary donation ticket. For more information, visit the IP Inclusive fundraising page, or the Jonathan’s Voice donations page.
