A free webinar from IP Inclusive and Jonathanβs Voice
to mark Movember
Thursday 7 November 2024
12.30 – 1.30 pm
– Do you feel out of your depth if someone opens up to you about their mental health?
– Feel unsure how to respond?
– Concerned you might say the wrong thing?
In this webinar we:
- considered what might be helpful/unhelpful when talking to a friend, family member or work colleague about their emotional wellbeing
- learnt techniques for facilitating sensitive conversations
- explored how to maintain appropriate boundaries.
Meet the speakers
Lead speaker Barbara Lawton has 30 yearsβ experience working as a counsellor, lecturer and mental health trainer. She is a Senior Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and a former Chair of their Universities and Colleges Division.
Barbara was joined in conversation by Simon Keevey-Kothari, an IP barrister and Senior Associate at Carpmaels & Ransford, and Dr Holly Redman, a trainee patent attorney at Appleyard Lees. Simon is involved in providing mental health support to fellow IP professionals. Holly is an EDI ambassador within her firm and a member of the Jonathan’s Voice Advisory Board.
Who was it for?
This event was for all UK-based IP professionals who are interested in mental wellbeing. We don’t mind where you work, what role you play there or what career level you’re at. This is an important topic, which touches many and matters to all of us.Β
We invited people to bring a guest along too – someone in a different role or at a different career level, perhaps; an ally or potential ally; or a colleague who’s not yet involved with IP Inclusive.
Cost
This event was free. So are all our resources. The Jonathanβs Voice events and resources are also free at the point of delivery.
That said, both organisations do need money to keep the show on the road, so if you enjoyed the event please consider contributing via our Just Giving page. For more information, visit the IP Inclusive fundraising page,Β orΒ the Jonathanβs Voice donations page.
Resources
The IP Inclusive and Jonathanβs Voice websites provide a plethora of fantastic resources all about wellbeing and mental health.Β Of course, there is no need to read any of these resources before you attend the event and benefit from the knowledge that will be shared. However, they are there if of interest to you.
