Finding out how Focal Point’s “Exchanging Expectations” model can help you create and maintain open and trusting relationships in the post-Covid workplace.Β

This was another event in our Inclusivity Unlocked! series, hosted with our long-standing partners Focal Point Training.Β

Over the past two years, the pandemic has changed many things for many people. This includes the way people work and how they feel and think about workplaces and working arrangements. As such, now is the time to re-evaluate our working relationships. We need to work together and discuss how our expectations of each other in the workplace may have changed.Β

During the event Stella Chandler, director at Focal Point, took us through their “Exchanging Expectations” model. The model will support you in having those difficult conversations about working relationships and ensure you have the tools to build two-way, open and trusting relationships. It can be used for any working relationships including amongst colleagues or between a team and line manager. Stella looked at how the model works, how to implement it within your organisation, and its benefits. Overall, Exchanging Expectations can help us identify a more inclusive way of working, one where we are less presumptive about what people need. This webinar provided practical tools and insights which you can use immediately in your organisation, so that you can start to see the benefits right away.Β

Focal Point Training have over 20 years of experience in creating and delivering solutions to create more inclusive workplace environments. In their usual style, this event was interactive, involving a presentation, audience input and plenty of time for questions and comments from the floor.Β

Inclusivity Unlocked! is a banner under which we are hosting a programme of events and corresponding resources on workplace inclusivity post-Covid. Our aim is to provide practical advice and guidance around how workplaces and working arrangements can be made more inclusive for all. You can find out more about the project here. There’s also an up-to-date list of scheduled and past events, with links to associated follow-up resources, here.

Our speakerΒ

Our speaker for this event was Stella Chandler, Director of Development at Focal Point Training. Stella has worked as a facilitator and coach for a variety of different clients. She also has 15 years of experience working in the Metropolitan Police Service and was the first civilian HR manager. We have worked closely with Stella before and were excited to be doing so again.Β

Who was it for?Β

This event was open to all UK-based IP professionals. It didn’t matter what type of organisation you worked in, what role you played in it or what your career level; everyone was welcome! The discussions were likely to be of particular value to those involved in management.Β

We also invited delegates to bring along a guest to watch the webinar with them – someone in a different role or at a different career level, perhaps; an ally or potential ally; or a colleague who’s not yet involved with IP Inclusive.

Cost

This event was free. So are all our resources. We think it’s important to keep IP Inclusive on the right side of the paywall.

That said, we do need money to keep the show on the road, so if you enjoyed the event, please consider contributing to our 2022-23 fundraising campaign. For more information – including about corporate donations – visit our fundraising page.
