Networking opportunities
with AIPLA’s Women in IP

Thursday 7 April 2022
4 pm BST (Manchester) & 5 pm BST (London)

After two amazing virtual events in 2020 and 2021, the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA)’s Women in IP Global Networking events were “in person” again this year!

There were two: one in Manchester, hosted by Mewburn Ellis, and one in London, hosted by Boult Wade Tennant. Both were themed around health and happiness at work, to mark World Health Day which was also on 7 April. In Manchester attendees had a chance to hear from an accredited sleep therapist, while in London they joined their hosts for sushi, mocktails and cocktails and learned how to prepare the tasty and healthy treats on offer.

You can see details of these and previous events by searching for the hashtag #WIPNE on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook or by looking at our pages.

The Manchester event (4 pm onwards):
Being Happy and Healthy in our Work

Mewburn Ellis was delighted to be able to host in person a global networking and discussion event to celebrate women in intellectual property and innovation. Everyone was welcome.

Our theme this year was “Being Happy and Healthy in Our Work” which coincided with 7 April being World Health Day. Research tells us that when people feel happier, they are more resilient, more productive, have better health and have smooth flowing professional and personal relationships. We are simply more successful when we are happy.

The event began with a welcome and introduction session hosted by the American Intellectual Property Law Association. It was one of around 70 events taking place around the world and included time to connect with events in other cities. We were then joined by an accredited sleep therapist who shared tips and techniques to ensure the sleep you get – even if limited – is the most restful and restorative it can be.

Delegates joined us for drinks, nibbles and networking. Our location was: Mewburn Ellis, Manchester One, 53 Portland Street, Manchester, M1 3LD – find us here.

The London event (5-7 pm)

Delegates were invited to join us for sushi, mocktails (and cocktails) whilst discussing and sharing our experiences with one another about how we can be healthy and happy at work. There were chances to participate and learn how to prepare the tasty and healthy treats on offer.

In celebration of World Health Day on 7 April, the theme of this year’s AIPLA event was “Being Happy and Healthy in Our Work”. Over the last couple of years, the importance of health and happiness and its impact on other aspects of our lives has become even more apparent and this event was a great opportunity to discuss and share our own experiences with one another.

We began with a welcome and introduction session hosted by the American Intellectual Property Law Association, with opportunities to connect with events in other cities later on. In keeping with the health and happiness theme, during the event we invited people to sample a range of delicious, expertly crafted sushi, mocktails (and cocktails), with chances to participate and learn how to prepare these tasty and healthy treats.

It was a great event and a long-awaited opportunity to connect in person with fellow local AIPLA members and guests. Our location was: Boult Wade Tennant LLP, Salisbury Square House, 8 Salisbury Square, London, EC4Y 8AP – find us here.
