When: Thursday 7 November 2019, 18.00 onwards
Where: Pinsent Masons, Crown Place, London EC2A 4ES
With Diwali in October and Hanukkah in December, we thought November was the perfect time to come together to celebrate our Festivals of Light. In this fabulous evening event, we heard from Asawari Churi and Tibor Gold MBE about what these festivals mean and why they are important (hint: it’s mostly food and candles, although there are some fascinating legends behind them). Thanks to our kind hosts Pinsent Masons, this was an excellent opportunity to learn about the cultures of ethnic minority colleagues and to make new friends.
Another highlight of the event was a talk by Amanda Michaels, a Deputy Enterprise Judge of the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and a highly regarded IP barrister, who shared some of her experiences as a woman making her career at the IP Bar, as well as of her Jewish roots.
And yes, there were genuine Diwali- and Hanukkah-themed treats to sample after the talks. Lots of people stayed on to enjoy the food, relax and chat: the room had a truly festive feel to it!
