Panel discussion and in-person networking
with Women in IP and their allies

Tuesday 11 October 2022
5 for 5.30 pm

Following the huge success of the Women in IP and allies annual event in June, we are very excited to announce that Gowling WLG are hosting an in-person follow-up event with us on Tuesday 11 October 2022! For those wishing to join remotely, there will also be a dial-in link.

The background

At the June event, which was held virtually due to train strikes, our panellists discussed the theme “Mind the Gap!” – inspired by Mary Ann Sieghart’s book The Authority Gap: Why women are still taken less seriously than men, and what we can do about it. The theme really seemed to resonate with a lot of people, and there’s so much more to discuss.

This follow-up event will dive deeper into some of the concepts discussed at the first event, with our amazing panellists returning to provide some more top tips for what we can do to narrow the authority gap. Plus, this time, the event will (hopefully!) be in-person, and so following the panel discussion, we can continue the discussion, network and catch up with our IP colleagues over a drink or two!

Some of the main themes and discussion points from the first event can be found in this blog post – we really hope you can join us for the follow-up to continue the discussion!

Meet the panel

As in June, the panel discussion will be moderated by Kate Swaine, Co-Head of IP at Gowling WLG. We hope to welcome back the same panellists as in June:

  • Anna Elagina – Finance Director at Boult Wade Tennant
  • Gordon Harris – International IP Leadership at Gowling WLG
  • Sadia Salam – Executive Coach, Inclusion Facilitator, Speaker & Recovering Lawyer of 20 years
  • James St Ville QC – 8 New Square
  • Lucy Wojcik – Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Ocado Group plc

We’ll update this post as soon as they’ve confirmed.

There will also be an opportunity for Q&As with the audience.

Timings

Registration and refreshments will begin from 5 pm, with the remotely-accessible panel discussion starting promptly at 5.30 pm. We expect it to last about an hour and a quarter. Afterwards, there will be a networking reception with drinks and nibbles for in-person attendees who are able to stay and chat.

Location

Gowling WLG, 4 More London Riverside, London SE1 2AU

Covid-19 protocols

We would ask you please not to attend this event in person if you or anyone you live with has recently tested positive for Covid-19 and/or is showing any related symptoms. We encourage all those attending to take a lateral flow test on the day, regardless of vaccination status, to provide some peace of mind for other attendees.

Registration

The event is free, but spaces are limited so please do sign up as soon as possible. There are separate registration links for those joining remotely and in-person, so please be sure to select the correct one:

Please also let us know if you have any special accessibility requirements. We’ll do what we can to help.

Cost

This event is free. So are all our resources. We think it’s important to keep IP Inclusive on the right side of the paywall.

That said, we do need money to keep the show on the road, so if you enjoy the event please consider contributing to our 2022-23 fundraising campaign. For more information – including about corporate donations – visit our fundraising page.
