to mark International Women’s Day

Women in IP’s March coffee dates were a follow-on from the Women in IP annual event (“Quick Wins”) and timed to coincide with International Women’s Day the day before.

We considered the following three questions:

1. What “quick wins” (in any strand of diversity) have you seen implemented in your organisation or elsewhere?
2. What else would you like to see implemented, that could easily be done?
3. How could you challenge your organisation, or other people, to do more? For example, how could you raise the issue of improving the shared parental leave policy? How could you challenge someone who has made a flippant comment?

Women in IP have since published a Quick Wins toolkit, based on the discussions at these coffee dates and the annual event, and on their accompanying survey.

These informal meet-ups are a popular way to meet new friends, share your thoughts and feelings, and generally cheer yourself up. Taking account of our supporters’ feedback, we’ve been varying the time of day for the events, so that hopefully everyone will have the chance to attend at least one, whatever their personal and professional schedules.
