Please note that we have now wound down the IP Non-traditional Family Network.
Since its establishment in the spring of 2021, this IP Inclusive community has been a huge source of support for IP professionals in non-traditional families, in particular whilst the Covid-19 pandemic was still causing problems for families with children in education. Its committee members now feel, however, that such support can be better provided on a more ad hocΒ basis and does not currently warrant a separate IP Inclusive community.
The committee co-leads Sarah Phillips, Janine Swarbrick and Julian Crump will continue to be involved with IP Inclusive and to contribute to our events, resources and lobbying work on issues of relevance to non-traditional families. They will continue to provide a voice for solo parents and other non-traditional families working in the IP professions, and to work with our five remaining communities where appropriate.
All three would be happy to hear from IP professionals in non-traditional families with suggestions and requests for support. Please also feel free to send those suggestions and requests directly toΒ [email protected].
We would like to say a massive “thank you!” to Sarah, Janine and Julian for their tremendous work in setting up and running the IP Non-traditional Family Network for us.
The IP Non-traditional Family Network was a community for people in solo parent families, blended families, adoptive families, LGBTQ+ families and other non-traditional families in the UK IP professions. It was also for their allies. The network provided support and a safe space for sharing ideas.
It had a LinkedIn group and also a blogsite, nontraditionalfamilies.blog, where you can still find relevant thoughts and resources posted by its members.
