The AIPLA Women in IP Global Networking Event is being held for the ninth year on Thursday 21st April 2016 in multiple locations around the world. The event is a meeting of women located around the globe who practice IP law, and/or who regularly face IP issues in the ordinary course of business.
Events are, so far, confirmed to take place in 55 locations in 21 countries on 21st April! The list of all the cities and hosts, including their contact information, can been found here. A number of events are taking place in the UK, organised by signatories of the IP Inclusive Charter for Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity.
In London, Carpmaels & Ransford will be holding a drinks reception with canapes and music, and Jacquelyn Guderley, a cofounder of Stemettes is the keynote speaker. Stemettes is a social enterprise that encourages girls and young women to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM). Carpmaels & Ransford are inviting some of the young women registered with Stemettes to their event in order to provide them with an opportunity to network with outstanding female professionals who have made good use of their science backgrounds to carve a career in the patent and IP world. Carpmaels & Ransford also hope to motivate the professional women attending the event to become active in mentoring or otherwise encouraging girls at school and university to aim high with confidence and reach their full potential. Carpmaels & Ransford say, “Our culture is built upon mutual respect, co-operation and collective added value. In Cambridge, Marks & Clerk’s Cambridge office are excited to host the AIPLA Women in IP global networking event, with an indulgent evening of gourmet fudge making at the Cambridge Fudge Kitchen. Over the past 50 years Cambridge has witnessed an explosion of technology and life sciences companies which has helped the city to develop a thriving and diverse economy. Marks & Clerk Cambridge says, “We are pleased to invite females working in Intellectual Property and Innovation in the surrounding area to join us to learn the confectionery art of making fudge, whilst offering the perfect opportunity to make new connections with industry colleagues“.
In Manchester, Marks & Clerk’s Manchester office will be hosting an event at Chetham’s School of Music, from 1.30pm – 4.15pm. Women attending the event will be able to partake in afternoon tea, followed by a tour of Chetham’s Library – the oldest public library in the English speaking world.
