An IP Inclusive/CIPA webinar
12.30 – 1.30 pm

In this free webinar, kindly hosted for us by CIPA, we explored how to be more inclusive for disabled people in the IP professions. Our speakers were Sally Ward from PurpleSpace and Jane Burton from the Law Society’s Lawyers with Disabilities Division. Together they discussed the value to be gained by making disabled people and their carers more welcome in our workplaces; the “reasonable adjustments” that can help them fulfil their potential; and the support that employers, colleagues and the wider community can provide, in particular through disability support networks.

We especially wanted to know what IP Inclusive can do to support disabled people and their carers – and how we can help our Charter signatories to become more disability-confident employers. And we now hope, building on this event and on our 9 September webinar on the autism spectrum, to establish a new networking and support community for IP professionals with both physical and mental disabilities, as well as their allies and carers. Keep an eye on our Communities page for news – and in the meantime, if you’d like to be involved in the project, please let us know.

In case you missed it, or would like to see Sally Ward’s presentation again, we’ve posted a recording of the webinar, with slides, here. Recordings of other IP Inclusive webinars can be accessed via our resources page.
