Careers in Ideas urgently needs volunteer mentors—especially trade mark professionals and IP solicitors—to guide talented aspiring recruits into the profession. If you can spare even a little time, your experience could make a decisive difference.

Since launching in 2021, the Careers in Ideas Mentoring Hub has successfully supported aspiring IP professionals from a wide range of backgrounds. Mentors give recruits practical insight into careers across the IP sector, help them understand entry requirements and provide the encouragement and perspective that can turn ambition into action.

Our mission is simple: to bring a more diverse range of people into the IP professions and ensure that outstanding careers are within reach of those who might otherwise be excluded. By becoming a mentor, you can help remove barriers, build confidence and show aspiring recruits that there is a place for them in IP.

Following the tremendous success of our Summer of IP 2026 campaign, demand has grown—and we now urgently need trademark mentors and IP solicitors to step forward.

This is your opportunity to make the profession stronger, fairer and more representative. If you can offer a little of your time to support would-be recruits—particularly people from backgrounds that remain underrepresented in IP—we want to hear from you.

Find out more about the mentoring scheme on the Careers in Ideas website.

Step forward today. To ask a question or volunteer as a mentor, email [email protected].
