IP Inclusive, in association with CIPA, CITMA and our headline sponsor Dehns, will be launching Careers in Ideas, an initiative for those considering a career in intellectual property.

Andrea Brewster OBE, leader of IP Inclusive, will open the event. Guests will have the opportunity to hear about the inception of Careers in Ideas, to view its resources and to engage in a panel discussion.

Andrea said: “Careers in Ideas will provide a platform that will raise awareness of IP-related careers and if successful, will uncover the potential of thousands of students in the future.
“The aim of the initiative is to introduce IP careers to those considering their future before they make decisions that will rule them out of a career in ideas and show them the possibilities and options within the IP professions.

“This initiative will not only widen students’ career choices but also increase diversity and benefit the IP professions as a whole.”

Tim Moss CBE, IPO Chief Executive, welcomed the launch of the initiative and added that more diversity in the IP professions would contribute to a stronger IP system and encourage competition, innovation and growth.

Tim said: “Intellectual property matters to the UK economy. As a nation, our total annual investment in IP rights – patents, designs, copyright and trade marks – runs at more than 4% of our GDP.

“A strong IP system is key to encouraging innovation, growth and jobs. Making the most of your IP is a clear sign of a company’s and a country’s competitiveness. A career in IP, whether it be product creation and development, legal support or examination, all contributes to achieving this.

“I welcome the launch of the Careers in Ideas awareness-raising initiative. I hope those considering a career in IP will also consider a career at the IPO, a truly world class place to work.”

The event will be followed by a launch party with drinks and canapés.

IP Inclusive welcomes not only IP professionals and their colleagues, but also professionals from the education, careers and outreach sectors.  This an opportunity for everyone to get involved in shaping the future of Careers in Ideas and to help increase diversity in the IP world.

The launch will be held on Tuesday 10 April, 2018 from 5.30pm, at the Royal Society of Medicine, 1 Wimpole Street, London, W1G 0AE. Those interested can book here.
