On 6 February 2023 we hosted our first “Menopause matters” coffee date. This informal online get-together proved to be extremely popular.
After a brief introduction from some of the IP Inclusive supporters who helped to organise the event, we split into small breakout rooms to talk about anything (peri)menopause-related. There were lively discussions on a variety of topics, from sharing experiences, resources and advice on treating symptoms to developing work policies to accommodate menopause.
There was a range of attendees, too, including women who are currently going through (peri)menopause, those who have yet to experience (peri)menopause, and those who have come out the other side, as well as men who were there to learn more and/or support family members or colleagues.
It seems there is a real need for this kind of group and many appreciated the chance to share their experiences among friends.
When’s the next one?
Our next “Menopause matters” will be on 25 April 2023 and will be loosely themed around (peri)menopause symptoms and different coping strategies and/or treatments. You can find out more and sign up via this link. We look forward to seeing you there!
What else is in the pipeline?
We’re also hosting an Inclusivity Unlocked! webinar on the menopause –Β “Menopause: What’s changing?”Β on Wednesday 22 March 2023 at 4.30 pm. Menopause expert Lauren Chiren, founder and CEO ofΒ Women of a Certain Stage, will talk us through the changes she’s witnessed β and in many cases helped to drive β in recent years, and provide tips for both individual professionals and their employers to create more menopause-savvy workplaces. She’ll be joined by Maria Hall (Mewburn Ellis), Marianne Privett (AA Thornton) and Jane Wainwright (Potter Clarkson), who will share their own thoughts, both personal and professional, about menopause inclusivity in the workplace. The sign-up link is here.
Resources too
We’ve also published a set of (peri)menopause resources to help you find ideas and support on this important, but so long avoided, topic. You can download thatΒ here.
And we’ve established a LinkedIn group for UK-based IP professionals who want to exchange news, views and ideas about the menopause: it’s a private group so just send us a request to join and we’ll do the rest.
